25/9 Jerusalem to Tel Aviv skate in Israel

Beitrag von TAHbKA »

Hell, Dusfor skaters, sorry, my German is useless.

we are skating from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv on 25/9. All the details are here:
http://www.facebook.com/events/348939641807859/

For the 7th year in a row on the Atonement day, 25/9/2012 will take place an about 70 km. skate on the highway from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv.

Timetable:
13.00 - the first meeting point in Tel Aviv on Arlozorov (aka Centre aka Savidor aka railway station) bus station
14.30 - the second meeting point near the Western Wall in Jerusalem (in real life 14.30 will become 15.30 at the best case)
15.00 - leaving the Western Wall and walking 144 stairs up
15.15 - putting the skates on
16.30 - the third meeting point on a Paz petrol station (Weizman str)
17.00 - leaving Jerusalem on road n.1
22.00-23.59- the assumed hour reaching Tel Aviv

Anyone who wishes to participate MUST be equipped with:
3 liters of water (Atonement day - everything is closed, there will be no place to refill the bottles or buy some drinks!!)
Food - whatever - waffles, snacks, nuts, fruits, sweets. Keep in mind - by the time you'll get to Jerusalem everything will be closed. I.e. take enough food sufficient for 10 hours and 70km of skating.

Full protective gear
Blinkers/light reflectors & a white/yellow t-shirt
Skates (if you are using a break - with a new break)
Mobile phone
A pair of shoes (it is forbidden to enter the western wall square with the rollers. Furthermore you might find more confortable to climb up the 144 staircase out of the western wall)

Remember: This is not a competition, it is only a fun skate.

There are neither organizers nor responsible.

Please do not join the skate if:
- You have never skated such distances (there are no cars on the Atonement day - no one will be able to come and pick you up);
- You can't break properly (there are some nice and long steep downhills).

Last but not least:
If you decide to take part to this 70 km skate, you may also be interested in:
- Tel Aviv Rollers on Tuesday nights in Tel Aviv - that's the biggest one,
- The Friday on Sunset - Fridays in Tel Aviv, smaller but usually much faster group,
- REFET - Thursdays in Petah Tikwa (suburb of Tel Aviv) - the level depends on the week (they start each month with a beginners route and end it with a crazy fast one). There is a Speed skaters route on Sunday nights in Tel Aviv.
